In the Forests of the Night
The bat flutters in my hands like a moth. Its fur is the color of a red fox; its wings are slate grey and smooth. Its angry little mouth gapes and chatters.
In 2004, M.J. Sharp and I joined Bat Blitz, a survey of bat species in the Uwharrie Mountains and the Pee Dee National Wildlife Refuge. This is an account of our adventure.
